Jobe are one of the largest watersports companies worldwide. Founded in 1974 in the USA, they are now based in the Netherlands with over 300 distributors in 60 countries and 3000 dealers worldwide.
One of their most known products are stand up paddleboards (SUPs) and, after developing their boards over the last few years, they’ve recently split their SUPs into two series: the Aero and the Premium Aero.
Aero (standard)
The Aero series includes the Yama 8’6, Mira 10’0 and Leona 10’6. These boards are all more price friendly but, are still made from the same high-quality materials as the Premium Jobe boards. However, they are 4.75 inches thick (compared to the premium’s 6 inches) and only have a stringer on top of the board. Also, the paddle included in the package is the standard Aluminium one. All these differences make the board cheaper, perfect for beginners or infrequent users, without sacrificing any paddling quality.
Premium Aero
The Premium series boards are made using the same high-quality materials and most recent technologies (x-drop stitch and heat bonding) but have added features for that high-end feeling. All the boards are 6” thick and have a double stringer (one of the top and bottom) which adds strength, rigidity, and response to the board. They have a wider and larger deckpad, giving you more freedom of movement. Plus, the packages come with a lighter, stiffer, and better paddle – a 3pc Fibreglass paddle with 20% carbon. The Premium Aero series includes the Venta 9’6, Yarra 10’6, Loa 11’6, Duna 11’6, Neva 12’6 and the Supersized 15’0.
So, if you’re looking for a high-quality board at a reasonable price, one of the standard Aero packages are a great option. However, if you’re able to pay the extra to invest, will be frequently paddling or paddling longer distances, we highly recommend going for Premium board.
