One of the main features of the Alder Surfwox boards are the high-density closed cell foam core which means all the boards are nice and lightweight and if you manage to damage the outer durable EBS deck skin out catching waves the board won’t soak up water, become waterlogged or un-surfable. The high-density HDPE slick bottom is durable and helps the board paddle fast and gives a smooth ride so great for any day on the water.
A soft surfboard also known as a soft-top surfboard is just as its name describes a surfboard with a soft deck top.
Soft top surfboards are a good option for beginner surfers because they're user-friendly, very stable, and easy to paddle. When you're learning how to surf, falling is an unavoidable part of the process and it's likely that you'll bump into your surfboard so it’s better to be a soft-top than a hardboard.
The boards are designed to be really durable and robust so can last anywhere between 5-10 years if stored properly.
So even though you don't strictly have to wax a soft top surfboard, we definitely recommend that you should. A quick coat of wax on the top of the deck will go a long way towards giving you the traction you need to get to your feet.
